Join Reading Buddies! Reading Buddies is an organization in which elementary school students will be paired with volunteer Glen Rock High School students to read together. The program will take place every Thursday at 4-5pm in the Glen Rock Public Library's Children's Section from March 3-April 7. All elementary school children are welcome to join! Enrichment through GRCS
The Glen Rock Community School is pleased to offer a variety of enrichment activities beginning this month, including Study Skills, Keyboarding, and Mad Science; plus several basketball clinics and conditioning programs for young athletes, which begin later in the spring. Kindergarten Orientation set for June 2 - Please save the date
Orientation for all children registered to enter Glen Rock Public Schools kindergarten in the fall of 2016 will be held on Thursday, June 2. Two sessions are planned – from 8:45-9:45 a.m. and 10-11 a.m. – when parents/guardians and children will meet simultaneously but in different locations of the school. Families are asked to please plan ahead to attend these important introductory events.
Letters from the elementary principals will be sent to all registered families on or about Monday, May 2, noting the child’s school building and orientation session assignments. Any incoming kindergartner who is registered on or before June 1 will be included in orientation.
Families who register their child after that date will receive placement notification in mid- to late August. Registration packets for all students needing to register with the district may be downloaded from the district’s website at www.glenrocknj.org under the Parents/Students tab. Completed packets should be delivered to the Glen Rock Board of Education Office, located at the rear of the Glen Rock High School/Middle School campus.
See Something - Say Something
Homeland Security See Something – Say Something campaign is a way for the everyday citizen to assist authorities to maintain safety. "If You See Something, Say Something™" is a national campaign that raises public awareness of the indicators of terrorism and terrorism-related crime, as well as the importance of reporting suspicious activity to state and local law enforcement.
To report suspicious activity, contact your local law enforcement agency. Describe specifically what you observed, including:
If there is an emergency, call 9–1–1.

TOPS IN TRIVIA!
The Glen Rock Board of Education, in partnership with the Borough of Glen Rock, sponsored a Community Showcase on Wednesday, Oct.7 to introduce families to the many organizations in Glen Rock that provide cultural, recreational and educational opportunities for children and adults. The event featured a Trivia Treasure Hunt based on questions provided by the groups.

Internet Safety Presentation
The Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Computer Crimes Unit will be presenting an in-depth presentation on Internet Safety, hosted by the Glen Rock, Paramus, Ridgewood and Waldwick Public School Districts on Wednesday, October 28, 2015, at 7:00 PM at Benjamin Franklin Middle School, 335 North Van Dien Avenue, in Ridgewood. The presentation, entitled “Staying Safe in Cyberspace – Internet Safety for Parents,” is a comprehensive examination of today’s Internet and the dangers that lurk inside chat rooms, instant messages, e-mail and blogs.Click here for event information. Building Community Health During Stressful Times conference
The Bergen County Human Relations Commission will be hosting a conference called “Building Community Health During Stressful Times.” It will be held at Ramapo College on Tuesday, November 10, 2015. The conference is free of charge. Please see the flyer at this link for more details:

2015-16 School Supplies Lists by Grade

If you placed an order with the H.S.A. through School Tool Box, your order will be delivered to your child’s classroom for the first day of school. If you did not order through School Tool Box, you may shop for the same items listed here and have your child bring his/her supplies on the first day of school. Please know that classroom teachers may ask for specific items needed for the class. Once you know your child’s teacher, please check out their webpage for any additional items needed. Thank you.
